Spring day

We spent a nice spring day outside, playing with our friend Katy who stayed with us for the day. Katy is one of our homeschool friends. We spotted dragonflies, butterflies and a painted turtle walked into the yard. All the horses got out to graze on the grass, twice.

Scout found this dog ball in the woods and carried it out for Ace.

Slate stepping stones placed in the sandbox make a perfect outdoor chalk board. Scout is experimenting on how well the chalk writes on Ace's side!

A serious face.

Exploring the gardens.

Discovering tree bark.

A painted turtle wandered into the yard...Seamus found it and alerted everyone.

After observing him for awhile we put him back into the woods...out of reach of the dogs.

Boys are already hitting on little Scou.t
The graduate himself.

Many students are recognized by the school with sashs around their necks. Even though the fire rescue kids have committed so much of themselves to their program the school did not recognize them....so, they recognized themselves! They made sashs with firehose and fire rescue patches. We're so proud!!

Taking Pooh and heading back home!

Boston

Zach, Sam, Scout and I went into Boston for the day. We took the subway in, Scout's first ride on the train. We journeyed in to visit the aquarium and it was Marine week and Zach wanted to visit. Scout enjoyed herself at the aquarium, of course, her favorite sight was looking at the floor lighting along the ramp that takes you up and around the giant tank!

We walked across town to the Constitution, stopping at the farmers market and Quincy Market along the way. Scout stole the show on the Constitution when she decided to take a "phone call" right next to the poor seaman trying to give a lecture to our group.

Scout needed a little run time before getting back on the train so we headed over to the park. This was her first experience with such a big playground and so many kids all in one spot. She climbed a little, observed the chaos a little and then went in search of treasures.

Tadpole playground.

Reaching for a treasure...flower petals.

Scout stealing the show!

All smiles at the aquarium.

Mothers Day

I had the most fabulous Mothers Day!! I came home from working all night and was greeted by my ENTIRE family.....that in itself was all I wanted. Was I surprised when I opened a gift. They had been planning and saving for months and gave me a new laptop. You can expect the blog to pick up speed again.

Next we loaded up the truck with kayaks and headed out for Scouts first kayak trip. It turned out to be a typical advebture for us...complete with a cell phone going for a swim, the ensuing search and eventual recovery! Unfortunatly it was not able to be revived.

We haded for Chatham fish peir for lunch on the beach. No seals yet.

Definately the best Mothers Day !!!

Michelle and Scout headed out for a paddle.

Harvest!

We started getting veggies from the garden last week. The radish's and mesculan lettuce are fabulous. We have had several great salads already. The girls give us the most delicious eggs. Recently they have started hiding the nest so it is difficult to find the eggs! Last time we found 17 eggs in one nest!

Spring is here

Spring is here, Scout loves looking out the window in the morning to see the birds at the feeder. We talk about the weather and the types of birds we see.
Our peas are coming up...these pics are a week old so they are bigger now. We have started eating lettuce and radishes already!

We have raised beds this year because of the chickens. Last year they ate most of our crop.

Inside the nature center classroom for a story...they even gave them a nice Thornton Burgess book to take home.

Scout's favorite animal was the piglet.

Scout and Murph went to the nature center last weekend for Daddy's, Donuts and Me. There were baby animals (Scout is about to kiss the baby lamb), story time and a beautiful day to be outside. They spent about an hour and a half there. Scout was the youngest and everyone remarked on how well behaved she was.
