Scout's 2nd birthday

It was a big week. Christmas followed by a birthday. We had lots of fun, lots of time together and with friends. I believe we were successful with the emphasis being on creating traditions, spending time together, eating delicious food and spending time with friends....not presents. She got them, she enjoyed them, they were not the focus, perfect.

On New Years Eve, her actual birthday, we took her to our favorite restaurant, the Beehive, for dinner.

She is such a good eater. That night she ate salmon, scallops, shrimp, asparagus, carrots, turnips, mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries with mango dip. Then there was homemade honey almond ice cream, with "fire" for dessert.

The next day was her party. We had a campfire.

lots of laughs

cocoa, of course

I finally cleaned out the end of the barn. Now we will have our play room.

and on this end our art studio

rugs will go here for a cozy corner

the cake, chocolate , the frosting is cool whip with berries and horses on top.

Barkley and Roch keep watch

Soups I made, clam chowder, mexican bean and sweet potato pear, stay warm on the wood stove.

we played with ponies

sat around drinking cocoa
She put out her first fire!

After everyone went home we played with new gifts. It was a fabulous day, we had beautiful weather and about 30 guests. If you weren't here this time mark your calender for next year! Have a happy, healthy new year!!
