Weaving project-Tree

Scout and I worked on a fun and simple weaving project this morning...we think it turned out awesome!

Cut a flexible, green branch about 3 feet long. Make a circle and secure the ends...I used heavy packing tape. The trim the ends of the branch.

Find some tree bark colored yarn. Tie the yarn to the top third of the circle, trim the ends about 6 inches past the bottom of the circle.

Gather all the strings together. It worked best to pull each one individually, then tie them together over the tape. Make sure the strings are taught.

Wrap the knot and continue up the strings, with a single strand, to form the trunk.

Make some strips of cloth. Fleece works well because it has bulk and texture. Colors as well as the strips width is personal choice.

Weave the strips through the strings. Not every string should be woven, go over many and under one.
Vary it .

Push the strips down as you add the next level. Keep the strips loose, tuck in ends. I added a colorful string of yarn on top after it was finished. Tie a string to the top to hang.
